…several magic mushroom entrepreneurs told the Capital Chronicle that most customers have traveled to Oregon from out of state to take the drug… estimates that about 80% of his clients… The Oregon Psilocybin Society was founded in 2016 by Portland psychotherapists Tom and Sheri Eckert to “raise awareness about the safety and benefits of controlled ‘Psilocybin Services.’ “The Oregon Psilocybin Society said, “…this novel approach could help alleviate the mental health crisis here in Oregon by addressing costly epidemics like suicide, treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, PTSD, and addiction to drugs, alcohol, and nicotine.” Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS) is a new section housed within the Oregon Health Authority Public Health Division’s Center for Health Protection. The Oregon Psilocybin Services Section implements Ballot Measure 109 (now codified as ORS 475A), which was passed in November 2020… hundreds of people have used psilocybin legally in Oregon since the first licensed center opened in Eugene in June. But only a minority appear to be from Oregon.
