If the measure passes, Massachusetts residents over 21 would be able to grow, possess, and use certain natural psychedelics – but the commercial sale of the substances would remain prohibited.
Supporters – including the Washington, D.C.-based New Approach PAC and Massachusetts for Mental Health Options – have raised more than $6 million dollars in support of the ballot proposal… Franklin King IV is an instructor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, “I was dismayed by the superficial coverage of Massachusetts Ballot Question 4 in The Crimson Tuesday [October 2022, 2024], which would decriminalize growth, possession, and use of small amounts of certain natural psychedelic drugs and create a process for establishing psychedelic therapy centers… [ie] Nassir Ghaemi, who, despite heading the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, publicly impugned psychedelic research as a “dead end” in an October [2024] article and has demonstrated a concerning lack of knowledge about current psychedelic science.”
