Depression is considered a disorder based in a series of social determinants, many of which can be dramatically exacerbated by colonial and extractive enterprises. Notably, studies about depression cite causes including grief, loss of significant personal relationships in communities, loneliness, stress and past history of abuse, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
