Landlords will no longer be able to discriminate against Oregon medical marijuana patients

Landlords in Oregon are now expressly prohibited from refusing to rent their properties to individuals based on their status as a medical marijuana patient.

In the past year, there have been several high-profile cases involving medical marijuana patients who had been evicted from their homes for simply using their medicine, even though it is legal in the state. For many sick people, the old law meant that they might have to choose between taking their medicine and their homes … The new bill will also grant protection from discrimination to people with past cannabis convictions.
