Psychedelic therapy effective in reducing suicidality…
Psychedelic therapy appeared associated with large acute and sustained reductions in suicidality, according to results of a meta-analysis published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.
From an initial pool of more than 9,900 records… results showed that psychedelic therapy led to marked decreases in suicidality in both relatively short (80 to 240 minute) intervals, as well as in sustained periods (1 day, 1 to 8 weeks, and 3 to 4 months). However, researchers noted a milder positive effect over a period of 6 months. Additionally, the authors found significant reductions in suicidality across all measured time intervals, except for the 7- to 8-week period, with rare occurrences of acute and post-acute elevations (6.5% and 3%, respectively).
