Police close magic mushroom business…
Shroom shops have been opening throughout the country… what many believe is an inevitable full-blown legalization… in September, 2022, a dispensary chain that first opened in Ottawa called Shroomyz… since the November 2022 raid, Toronto said it had no plans to use its powers to shut down the dispensary… “It’s a medical protest,” says the regional district manager of Shroomyz, offering his rationale for selling magic mushrooms over the counter.
…a press release sent to local media… said the owner of the Mushroom Cabinet, John Francis, “believes that access to medicinal use of mushrooms can help people suffering… can make a big difference in a major health issue getting increasingly worse in our communities…” Police… vice and drug unit… obtained a warrant… shut it down and seized… “The investigation continues with drug investigators along with the Asset Forfeiture Unit. If the property owner is found to be connected with the business, the property could be subject to forfeiture, and any assets seized,” said Hamilton police.
